Johnny Osbourne (born Errol Osbourne in 1948) is a popular reggae singer, who rose to success in the late 1970s and mid 1980s. “Truths and Rights” was a notable roots reggae album and an immediate success. It featured “Jah Promise” and the album’s title track, “Truths and Rights”. However, he is probably best known for his mid 1980s dancehall reggae hits “Buddy Bye”, “Ice Cream Love” and “Water Pumping”.
During 1967 Osbourne became lead vocalist of The Wildcats, and worked with producer Winston Riley, although nothing was issued. The Wildcats’ were then financed by their manager for a session at Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One, from which his debut single, “All I Have Is Love”, was released.
Spanner Banner, born Joseph Anthony Bonner in1959, is a reggae recording artist and songwriter. One of Violet and Ivanhoe Bonner’s 11 offspring, the Jamaican-born performer is one of four siblings who headed into the music business. His brother Pliers, made the leap to professional recording artist in 1987, with Chaka Demus, whose international hits include “Tease Me.” Banner penned and originally recorded the song before Pliers took it into the Top 5 on British charts. Richie Spice, another brother, debuted in the U.S. during the summer of 2000 with Universal, an album that offered three Bonner brothers for the price of one with featured appearances by siblings Banner and DJ Snatcher Dogg. Four years before, Spice had scored big with the single “All Night Long.”
Garnett Silk (born Garnett Damoin Smith, in 1966) was a Rastafarian reggae musician that had powerful emotions in his soothing and smooth voice. He was hailed as the next rising reggae star until his untimely death in 1994, while attempting to save his mother during a house fire.
Lucky Philip Dube( 1964-2007) was a South African Reggae Musician that recorded over 2o albums in a 25 year period. He was also South Africa’s biggest selling artist. Unfortunately he was murdered in Johannesburg on the evening of October 18th, 2007.
Christafari is a Christian Reggae band that is centered around the personality of ordained minister Mark “Tansoback” Mohr (born in 1971), an American born-again Christian. Until the age of 17, Mohr was Rastafarian. The essential goal of Christafari is to convert Rastafaris to Christianity.
